A wooden climbing frame on the straight and narrow

08 October 2014

In an ideal world, everyone would have a huge, roaming garden to allow their children or grandchildren to play in. Unfortunately, we don’t live in an ideal world and many gardens are quite compact. And for many people this can lead to the assumption that something as large as a wooden climbing frame system just won’t fit. But…as many of our past customers have found out, this is often far from the case.

One such customer was Georgina from Saffron Walden in Essex. She called us looking for a double tower wooden climbing frame system for her grandson and his friends. It needed to have a slide,a swing set with three swings, a fireman’s pole and many other accessories – not to mention a tree going right through the middle of it!

A climbing frame vs. a space in the garden

With a long narrow garden it was clear that the usual layout of a wooden climbing frame system would not be possible unless her neighbour didn’t mind having a slide in their garden!

We suspected that they wouldn’t and so set about redesigning the system just for Georgina. By moving the wider elements of her climbing frame system to the ends of the two towers we created a system design that included all the elements of a typical climbing frame system but at a fraction of the width. It became our longest and narrowest system to date. And what about that tree?

Well, in addition to building a hideaway at the bottom of one tower we skilfully cut around the existing tree which now goes through the floor and roof of the hideaway and on through the roof of the platform above it too! Just have a look at the pictures. What could be cooler than a living tree inside a climbing frame tower? Within mere seconds of the climbing frame system being finished eager children were starting the first of many fun filled days. Georgina was delighted and emailed us to say “Just to let you know that the climbing frame is in and has already been used! Your team were absolutely fantastic and worked so hard.  Please pass on my thanks for their work.” A happy customer and very happy children.
