Do you remember how before the internet and the rise of social media, families actually communicated with each other? People ate together and enjoyed each other’s company. Now it isn’t uncommon for people to live together without talking to each other, apart from the occasional comment. At Gardenatics, we feel that it is really important to spend time together and reconnect. To do this you need to set aside time away from activities, jobs and other commitments. We think that a really good way of doing this starts with combining your lifestyle, with your garden.
Gardens can reflect your lifestyle, especially with how you use them. Even if you haven’t got green fingers, there are many things you can do to use the space more effectively. When I was a child, we had two halves to our garden. One half had a climbing frame, with swings, slides and play house. The other half had a large summer house, where we would spend time in the evening. It was also a fantastic space for garden parties and BBQs with the neighbours. Our garden was a functional balance between the needs of us kids and our parents.
A children’s play area is a great way of enticing them outside and having lots of fresh air and exercise. An interactive area where they can have fun will always be popular with kids, even when they become teenagers! It’s a great centre point for creating bonds and memories with friends and families. Parents can also relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the time watching their children play.
You could make the space as inviting as possible by including a variety of furniture for comfy seating areas. Perfect for relaxing on long summer evenings and a having a special area to spend time together outside. Add a few thoughtful extras, such as a fire pit or sail shades to bring a comforting atmosphere. If you’re into wildlife, you could even finish it off with some attractive planters and shelters for our furry friends.
Spending time together is so important for strengthening bonds with each other. Children grow so quickly, so grab the chance to see them and play with them while you can. You can take a break from your daily lives, and catch up with everyone to see how they’re doing. Using the garden for this shared space is a great way of creating a pleasant and refreshing atmosphere. And it can’t be denied that this is far easier with hardly any distractions from modern technology. Best of all, using your garden space wisely can really help to bring the family closer together. You can’t put a price on having the time and space to enjoy time spent together as a family.
