Following on from our first five considerations, here are the remaining 5 things you should think about when choosing to buy a climbing frame or tree house.
When choosing a climbing frame it’s important to future proof it if you can, so that it remains challenging and enjoyable to your children for as long as possible, and it’s safe for them to use.
But there is a balance to be struck here. You don’t want to make it so challenging that they might get stuck on any part of the equipment. So a mix of stuff they can do now with more challenging stuff that they can work towards as they get older will be the best solution. And if your child has special needs or a disability, a climbing frame can still be considered (and will be zero VAT rated). You just need to think carefully about their physical limitations and plan from there.
You may have to check with your local authority if you have any trees which are established – they may have preservation orders which will severely limit your options for a tree house.
Certainly you cannot attach anything to trees with TPOs, so if you are not sure, check first before going ahead with your custom build.
You would think that sustainability would be a low consideration on most people’s agenda when purchasing a climbing frame, however increasingly we are all having to be more careful with what we buy.
If you are concerned about the environmental impact of your purchases, you can be reassured that all of our wooden climbing frames are made from as much timber as possible (avoiding plastic, rubber and metal as far as possible) and the timber we use is high quality slow-growing sustainable timber from Northern Europe.
All the timber for each frame we make is treated for outdoor use, and guaranteed for a minimum of 10 years against rot and infestation.
At Gardenatics we can supply any system to fit any garden and budget, even though all our Gardenatics frames and treehouses are made from the very best materials. Our square timber frames start from as little as £1,920, with swing sets starting at £350 for supply only.
Our premium systems, made from high quality slow growing round waxed timbers are approximately 20% more expensive than the square timber frames but a lot more substantial. Like anything in life, one gets what one pays for, and a climbing frame or tree house is no exception.
The exact specification of your Gardenatics climbing frame will be linked to the age of your children and to your overall budget. Both will have a bearing on the eventual specification of your system.
At Gardenatics, the world really is your oyster; from swings, slides, cargo nets, fireman’s pole for quick escapes, all the way through to full ‘houses in the sky’ complete with roofs, windows and doors and even electricity if required!
